Fundamentals of textile

A textile is a flexible material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibers often referred to as thread or yarn. Fiber is a class of materials that are continuous filaments or discrete elongated pieces. Textile fibers are defined as unit of matters characterized by flexibility, fineness, and high ratio of length to thickness. Generally a fiber should be 500 to 1000 times long.
Classification of Textile Fibers:
1)    Naturally occurring fibers of vegetable origin,
2)    Naturally occurring fibers of animal origin,
3)    Regenerated man-made fibers which use some naturally occurring substance as the raw material,
4)    Synthetic man-made fibers which use synthetic organic compounds as the raw material,
5)    Mineral fibers which are entirely inorganic.
